Accommodation

Goldschmidt2008 delegates are being offered on-campus accommodation at the University of British Columbia. These accommodations combine the city's most spectacular views and location with the best value and variety of rooms possible. In addition to these advantages, on-campus accommodation offers the convenience of being in close proximity to the conference events and other Goldschmidt2008 delegates.

Accommodation on Campus

Accommodation Options as of May 2008 (not all room types are available for the same dates):

Walter Gage Residence:

Gage Towers Standard Single: One of six single bedrooms sharing a lounge, kitchenette (unequipped) and washroom. Each bedroom sleeps one person only. Telephones are not provided.
Gage Towers Premium Single: One of four single bedrooms sharing a lounge, kitchenette (unequipped) and washroom. Each bedroom sleeps one person only.
Gage Towers Tower Suite: Each suite contains six bedrooms (one room with double bed and phone, five rooms with single bed) washroom, lounge with TV, and fully-equipped kitchenette. Maximum seven occupants per suite. Suite is sold at a flat rate regardless of number of occupants.

Totem Park Residence:

Single Room: Private room with one single bed. Guests share a washroom located on each floor.
Twin Room: Private room with two single beds. Guests share a washroom located on each floor.

Ritsumeikan at Totem Park Residence:

Single Room: One of four single bedrooms within an apartment sharing a lounge, kitchenette (unequipped) and washroom. Each bedroom sleeps one person only. Television and telephone are not provided.

Marine Drive Residence:

Studio Suite Double: Private suite with double bed in bed/sitting room, shower (no bathtub), kitchenette (unequipped). Television and telephone are not provided.
Single Room: One of four single bedrooms within an apartment sharing a lounge, kitchenette (unequipped) and washroom. Each bedroom sleeps one person only. Television and telephone are not provided.

Booking a Reservation

If you are booking a Standard Single or Premium Single at the Gage Towers or a Single Room at the Ritsumeikan Residence at Totem Park Residence or Marine Drive Residence, you are able to place a room allocation request. This request can be made on the on-line booking form. Note that six Standard Singles are allocated to one unit, four Premium Singles are allocated to one unit and four Single Rooms are allocated to one unit. Individual reservations are required for each Single Room.

Please note that you cannot book a reservation for dates earlier than July 9 and later than July 23 on the on-line booking form. Information for Families

Delegates traveling with their families can be accommodated in the multi-bedroom units at the Gage Towers by booking Standard or Premium Singles.

We ask that the following guidelines are observed:

Meals for Delegates Staying in Campus Accommodations

This only applies to delegates staying at the Gage Towers, West Coast Suites, Totem Park and Marine Drive Residences.

Delegates staying in campus accommodations will be offered daily breakfast, from Monday, July 14 to Friday, July 18, dinner on July 13 and public transportation tickets, via bus, to enjoy the local cuisine for evening meals. These services are built into the room rates.

Downtown Accommodation

There are also a wide variety of hotels available for booking off campus. From luxury 5 diamond hotels to the more informal comforts of bed and breakfast accommodation, Vancouver has something to suit all pockets and preferences.

Coast Hotel Information
For Coast Hotel bookings delegates will have to go to www.coasthotels.com; put the requested hotel, dates, and the booking code in to be able to access the discounted rates.

Sutton Place Hotel Information
Delegates may make bookings at the Sutton Place Hotel using the following methods:
In order for the group to receive the specially negotiated rates, delegates should indicate that they are making reservations for the “Goldschmidt 2008”. The hotel will accept reservations on a space available basis at current available rates.

Changes or cancellations for individual reservations must reach the Reservations Department 48 hours prior to the arrival date to avoid penalty of one night’s room and tax.
